Lyla came to visit me today.
"Gabriel, I really don't think you should stay here."
"Why the hell not?"
"It's not a stable environment."
"I'm not meant to be in a 'stable environment'."
This was so dumb. Why can't I live where I want without her making a huge deal about how unstable it is?
"Everybody is meant to live a stable life."
"If everything was stable humans wouldn't exist."
"If you want to stay here that's fine, but don't come running to my house when things don't work out."
She considered me a problem.
"I will not be burdening you any longer." I went into the kitchen.
"That's not what I meant and you know it."
"Oh really??" I shouted. "So that call to the ward wasn't anything??"
"I want to make sure you have a stable environment in which to live."
"So plugging me into a damn machine for the rest of my life will somehow be stable???" I was shaking now. "Cause if that's what stability is I don't want anything to do with it."
"Gabriel calm down."
"I will do nothing of the sort." I clenched and unclenched my fists at my side.
She touched my arm. I tensed and fell into the dark realms of my mind.
"Dexter, let's take her for a walk." She begged.
"I don't want to right now."
She stopped rocking her and looked down at my sketchbook.
"Whatcha drawin?"
"A circus."
She looked thoughtfully at the bundle in her arms.
"Look at her sleep. She looks so happy."
I didn't bother to look.
"She most likely is."
"I'll be her mom and you'll be her dad." She stated.
"Can I see her?" I asked.
She leaned closer revealing what she had been cradling.
She was a beautiful baby, wrapped in a pure white blanket. I wiped some of the dried blood off her lifeless arm. True beauty cannot be masked.
"She's beautiful."
"I think we should call her Eden."
"Eden." I repeated, getting a feel for the name. "Eden is a perfect name."
I snapped out of it. In my apartment. On the floor. Soaked in sweat and tears. Fucking hell. That's what this is. Fucking hell.
"See this is why you need a stable environment." Lyla said running her fingers through my hair.
"No this is why you need to leave." I wasn't going to take anymore of her bullshit.
"Fine, I'll leave. If that's what you really want."
"It is."
She left. I really hate her. All the shit she's put me through. Good god.
And who the fuck is this chick in my flashback?? I've never seen her before. And why is Eden...Eden...I don't know...a dead baby. I am so damn confused. This is like my other flashback only rearranged, characters added, plots changed, same setting, and the same damn drawing. Curse you fucking confusion.
Gabriel.

Write whatever you want (although I don't promise to respond well to ALL of it).
